Starter was getting weaker by the day and finally gave out when the temperature got to 8 degrees and wind chill below 0. So about 8-1/2 weeks ago my suburban was slow to start, so I take the batteries out to have them load tested(tested good). So then I take the starter out to have it tested(tested good). Figured Id have the alternator tested also while I was at it(tested good). That left me with a gut feeling it was the starter was still bad but went ahead and made all new battery cables just in case they where corroded in the center. It seemed to help for about a week. I had the batteries load tested again and this time they were bad.
So I bought 2 new batteries and it helped. 2 months go by and it wont start at all.
I figured a dead cell in one or both batteries so I load test them again. After that I tapped the starter and it tried to turn the engine over.
So here I am changing a starter in the cold. I could of had it all fixed before winter lol. Moral of the story is always go with your gut.
